Current music:Azam Ali - The Cold Black Key

This is wholly stupid, I admit.

I'm going down to NY tomorrow. I cannot decide whether or not to take my laptop with me. This is so comparatively trivial a question.

Pros:
Bus trip goes really quickly when you can watch anime the whole way
I know I'll have all the music I want to listen to
I might be able to get internet on the bus on the way down - yay internet

Cons:
Laptop in its case is heavy and awkward
Net connection at home is complicated and it's easier to just not deal with it, so no internet at home on it anyhow
Possible to get hijacked by work if I have it.

I have an iPod, but it hasn't been synched up to anything lately because what I'd want to synch it to is currently on three separate hard drives. Man, do I have to do something about that. Also, iPod is being quirky lately, and doesn't want to play in stereo out the headphones unless the jack is being held at a weird angle.

So, laptop. Should it stay or should it go?

As if I wouldn't have been, anyway! I was thinking about just taking four or so, though, and seeing if that'd do it. Provided they weren't hardbacks, that'd still be lighter and less awkward to carry around.

I always bring my laptop for bus trips. Watching of things! Also, for me, being stuck on a four-hour bus with a laptop is a surefire way to make certain I write something, but that's just me.

(Also, depending on what bus you take, you might get hijacked by a terrible movie, in which case it's good to have something that can drown it out.)

Hm. I am very much not a writer, to be honest. Unless we're talking composition of music, in which case there is nothing in heaven or hell that would induce me to do it on a bus. :P

I believe I am unlikely to be hijacked by a movie, as I am not taking Peter Pan/Greyhound. But man, when that happens, it is SO ANNOYING.

Also, YAY. See you later! :D

I am... and OH MY GOD, Daddy Day Care? What is wrong with this world?

I think that is the strongest argument anyone has ever presented for anything. *hugs laptop to self*

Incredulous edit: what on earth would possess anyone of the idea that it would be GOOD to play Schindler's List on a bus with a captive audience?!

MEGABUS IS A SPECIAL, SPECIAL COMPANY.

I think maybe it is because it is run by Brits . . . and they have a strange idea of what Those American Audiences might enjoy? Um.

I got Stuart Little, last time I was on a bus. (Maybe the time before that. I dunno.)

It was... uh. Interesting. Something like that.

(I didn't want to watch it. But it kept being a flickering moving thing in the corner of my vision and drawing my attention! *tragic*)

I haaaaate the phenomenon of bus movies, as a rule.

They are arse, to be sure. Thankfully, I do not have one on the way down. Also, I do have internet. Life is maximally good. And I have finished the Dalemark quartet, so I can even go and give all of them back to Becca at once. Wheee.

Man, though, carrying the laptop around is annoying. Between it and my backpack entirely full of dirty laundry (*sigh* I am pathetic), my ribcage feels weirdly compressed when walking.

On a bus in Chile we got Little Man. You know a movie is bad when you barely speak the language the movie is subtitled in, then sleep through half of it, wake up and can still follow the plot.

Wow, the synopsis sounds admirably horrible. I'm guessing the sleeping was probably the best part of the movie experience.

Should it stay or should it go now? If it goes it will be trouble! If it stays it will be double. So we gotta let you knoooooooooooooooooow! Should it stay or should it go.

ahem.

I guess the question is how much time will you have to use it while there, and if you will need to use it? Which is the question I asked myself for taking it with me to my upcoming, 2 day trip (with 2 days worth traveling) to Wisconsin. The answer was 'no', this time.

*grin* Every day I get any song in anyone's head is an automatic tick in the "win" column.

Wherefore the Wisconsining?

My cousin's step daughter is getting married. Considering my cousin is the only 'close' family we have left, this is a Big Deal. The wedding is on Nov 1st. I'm flying back on Oct 30th, and then after the wedding reception, we're pretty much driving straight back to Milwaukee and the airport for the rilly early Nov 2 flight.
